Senior Backend Engineer

Industry: Retail & Supply Chain (Food Distribution)

• Warehouse Platform Architecture. Developed a unified warehouse platform for all Tesco countries, shaping and defending the technical and architectural decisions. Replaced disparate country-specific warehouse applications with a single system built on a shared codebase, unified business logic, and support for country-specific requirements.
• Engineering Infrastructure. Independently designed and implemented cross-platform CI/CD and operational infrastructure for the application, establishing a single, resilient process for development, deployment, and operations across different environments.
• Security & Technical Leadership. Resolved a Cyber Security compliance gap around the use of secure PHP versions. Planned, organized, and executed the migration of 45 applications from EOL PHP versions to modern supported versions within a 5-business-day deadline.
• Frontend Architecture Transformation. Changed the UI architecture, laying the groundwork for decoupling the frontend from the backend and moving toward independent client-side development through the API. Introduced a unified design system as part of this change.

Backend Developer

Industry: Automotive Retail & Marketplace

• API Platform Ownership & Architecture. Initiated and independently defined a new architectural direction for the company's API platform. Migrated all integrations to a unified architecture, reducing the number of API routes and simplifying inter-system communication. Migrated all 600 existing routes within three months, building a platform with automatic documentation and unified validation and diagnostics that let integration teams connect and troubleshoot on their own.
• Engineering Strategy & Performance. Changed the technical approach to the platform's performance problems, proving the existing stack could meet the required targets without rewriting the system in another language. Cut API response time from 600ms to 70-90ms.
• Data Synchronization & Import Reliability. Rebuilt the integration with Microsoft Navision to deliver reliable asynchronous processing of vehicle imports. Isolated failures in individual tasks and preserved the ability to diagnose and recover from failures, preventing corruption of imported data.
• Engineering Infrastructure & CI/CD. Independently initiated, designed, and implemented automated build and deployment infrastructure, removing the team's dependence on manual deploys and a single engineer with server access.
• Observability & Performance Monitoring. Introduced monitoring and performance measurement, enabling objective evaluation of platform performance and technical decisions based on real metrics.

Backend Developer

Industry: Event Ticketing & Event Technology Platform

• Multi-Site Architecture. Built a WordPress plugin that enabled launching sites with different branding and configuration on top of a single backend core. Implemented a configuration mechanism allowing independent customization of each site's front-end presentation without modifying or duplicating the core business logic.
• Backend Development. Developed and maintained the backend of a ticketing platform, resolved logic issues in the existing business logic, and adapted the system to the requirements of the mobile app, a Saudi Arabian client, and Cyber Security.
• Engineering Standards. Introduced unified coding standards, establishing a shared approach to developing and maintaining the backend system.
• Cloud Development Environments. Set up cloud-based, automated development workstations for the engineering team.
